Chef

„The Quiet Veteran“

Chef was rescued in March 2021.

Chef was living as a street dog in Chefchaouen when he became the victim of a cruel act of violence. While he was sleeping, two men deliberately injured him by smashing a heavy concrete block onto his front legs, fracturing both of them. A woman witnessed the incident from her window and, unable to intervene at the time, began feeding Chef on the streets to help him survive. Sadly, without medical care, his fractures did not heal properly.

When she later learned about our refuge, she reached out to us for help. We took Chef in immediately, and since then, senior Chef has been living safely at the refuge, where his needs are finally met and his pain is managed with care and dignity.

Chef is a grumpy old gentleman with a truly lovable heart. He does not allow everyone to touch him right away, but once trust is established, he turns into an affectionate cuddle bear. When he enjoys being cuddled, he makes soft, content little sounds – a quiet expression of comfort and gratitude. Chef asks for very little, carries himself with calm dignity, and shows deep appreciation for kindness.

Chef was likely born in September 2016. He is a senior dog who deserves peace, respect, and gentle companionship – a place where he can simply be himself and enjoy his days in safety and warmth.

(We’re looking for a place of grace for Chef – all travel and adoption expenses will be covered by us. )
