“Our Black Beauty”
Gina was rescued in October 2021.
Gina was rescued during a mass killing of street dogs in Chefchaouen. Dog catchers were already in the process of killing dogs when we arrived just in time. We were able to bring Gina to safety together with her small puppy, Chicco, and take them both into our care.
Gina is a confident and active dog with a strong, balanced personality. She naturally takes on a leadership role in her kennel – calm, fair, and attentive to what is happening around her. Gina enjoys having a purpose and likes to be involved, which makes her an intelligent and engaged companion. At the refuge, she is clearly under-challenged and longs for more exercise, mental stimulation, and shared activities. She is not hyperactive, but a dog who thrives when given tasks and direction.
Despite her strength, Gina is also a very affectionate and loyal dog. She walks well on a leash and enjoys being out and about with her people. Gina is simply a great dog and a wonderful companion – attentive, steady, and deeply connected to those she trusts.
Gina was likely born in December 2020. She is waiting for someone who sees her not only for her beauty, but for the incredible partner she can be in an active and loving home.
