Merlin was rescued in 2021 after his owner tied him up near our refuge and left him there. He had suffered from severe neglect for years and arrived in a heartbreaking condition. His body was covered with hundreds of ticks and fleas, he was dangerously anemic, starving, and so weak that he could barely walk.
With intensive care, patience, and love, Merlin slowly began to recover. Over time he regained his strength, his beautiful coat, and — most importantly — his trust in people. His transformation felt nothing short of miraculous.
When Merlin was finally ready to leave for his new home, his former owner returned and demanded him back after seeing how healthy and beautiful he had become. We refused, knowing that Merlin deserved a safe future. Although this decision brought challenges and threats, protecting Merlin was never a question for us.
Today, Merlin lives a happy and peaceful life in the UK, far away from the neglect and abuse he once endured. He will never have to suffer again.
