Django was rescued in 2021, and her story remains one of the most heartbreaking we have ever witnessed.

Before her rescue, Django suffered severe abuse on the streets. Her jaw was broken after being violently kicked, and hot tar had been poured over her body, leaving painful burns on her skin. Despite everything she endured, the day she arrived at the refuge she greeted us with a wagging tail — as if she were simply grateful to be safe.

Django never lost her gentle spirit. She remained social, affectionate, and kind to everyone she met during the years she spent with us. Her resilience and ability to trust again touched everyone who knew her.

She underwent a highly complex jaw reconstruction surgery, which was thankfully successful. Her remarkable recovery later gained international attention when her story was featured by The Dodo, allowing millions of people around the world to witness her transformation.

Among those who saw her was a kind person in England who fell in love with her story and offered her a home. Today, Django lives happily in the UK, where she is safe, loved, and still the happy, cheeky girl she has always been.
