Avalon was brought to us in 2023 by his owner. He had been used for hunting, a practice that in our region of the Rif Mountains often exposes dogs to extreme danger. Many hunting dogs are kept hungry and released to chase wild boars, leaving them vulnerable to severe injuries.
During one of these hunts, Avalon was badly attacked by a wild boar and suffered devastating wounds. His owner brought him to us and said he no longer wanted him. Of course, we took Avalon in and did everything we could to save his life.
We provided immediate first aid and rushed him to a clinic, where he underwent extensive treatment and surgery. Over the following months, our team cared for his wounds day by day, helping him heal both physically and emotionally.
Avalon made a remarkable recovery. Today, he still lives at the refuge, waiting for someone to see him and offer him the loving home he deserves. Despite everything he has been through, Avalon is not a hunting dog at heart — he is a gentle, sensitive soul who simply wants safety, love, and affection.
